Problem: Your event is a strictly private affair and you don't want anyone attending who wasn't specifically sent an invitation. How do you keep your event "By Invitation Only"?
Solution: Try out the new "Strict Mode" feature for RSVP's on SendAnInvite!
This new feature will restrict exactly who can RSVP to your event. After creating your invitation, first decide if you'll allow your recipients to bring any guests, and how many per recipient. For the sake of example, let's say you'll allow each recipient to bring one guest. On the right side menu under the heading RSVP's, visit the Settings section and set the "Limit number of guests per RSVP" to 2. (recipient + 1 guest).
The next step would be to make sure only the people you want at your event are entered into your SendAnInvite Address Book.
Next, contact us at accounts@sendaninvite.com and request us to turn on the RSVP "Strict Mode" for your account. Since this is a very limiting feature, it must be requested and cannot be turned on or off by account holders. It usually only takes a few minutes for us to do this for you, but if you email us, say... in the middle of the night, it may take a few hours. Please plan accordingly.
Once "Strict Mode" is enabled for your account, you'll see a link for it at the bottom of the right side menu. Highlight the invitation you want this feature to be activated for, click the link and enable the feature. Now you're ready to send the invitation to your guest list.
When you've mailed out your invitations and "Recipient Roy" goes to RSVP for the event, the system will check your address book for "Roy's" email address. If he's listed, the RSVP is accepted. If "Roy" isn't found in your address book, the RSVP is rejected and he's shown the following message...
"We're sorry, this event is by invitation only and has a restricted guest list. The email address you used for your RSVP could not be found. If you believe you have received this message in error, please contact your event host as shown on the invitation you received."
Keep in mind, if a recipient is bringing a guest, only the recipient's email address is checked against the address book. This would allow for a recipient to bring their spouse or "significant other" even if you don't know both email addresses.
If you plan on using a "Self Mailed Link", please ask us for details on using "Strict Mode" with this option. There are a few differences with using the "Self Mailed Link" and this method of sending is recommended for the highest level of privacy.
