SendAnInvite is a "do-it-yourself" web-based invitation/announcement service that allows you to create your own unique and custom invitations and announcements. SendAnInvite supports RSVP's, Maps, preferences, "what to bring" lists and more. SendAnInvite supports both private and business events.
Can I only use SendAnInvite for party invitations?
SendAnInvite allows you to do much more then just out invitations. Send invitations or announcements for both business and personal events. For example, you can create a newsletter or an announcement if you wish just by turning off the RSVP feature. SendAnInvite is very flexible with a very rich set of options that can easily be enabled or disabled.
What does it cost?
An account with SendAnInvite is Free. When you sign up for an account, you get to create as many invitations as you like, plus take advantage of features such as RSVP management, reminders, notifications, what-to-bring lists, guest preferences, etc. at no additional cost. Is there advertising on the invitations or emails?
No. SendAnInvite is completely user supported so there's no advertising on the invitations/announcements or the emails, so your recipients' focus is on your event!
If my account expires, are my invitations still active?
Unfortunately, no. When an account expires, all the invitations for that account are deleted along with personal images, address book entries, etc.
Is my email address or the email addresses of my guests collected?
SendAnInvite does not harvest, collect, share or sell email addresses. That includes both your email address and the email addresses of your guests.
I'd like to extend my free account. What do I need to do?
To extend your free account, just log into your account. Accounts expire after 1 year of no activity. Just log into your account. It's automatically extended for another year from your last login date. It's that easy!
What happens if my account expires before my event date?
SendAnInvite expires accounts after 1 year of non-use. When your account expires, all your invitations are deleted. To extend your account, just log into your account. Doing so will extend your account for an additional year from your login date.
How do I cancel my SendAnInvite Account?
You may request cancellation of your SendAnInvite account by sending an email to SendAnInvite Accounts with the text CLOSE ACCOUNT in the subject line and your email address and SendAnInvite account password in the message body of the email.
How can I contact someone at SendAnInvite.com?
Can I add a company logo on the invitation emails?
Yes! In your Account Settings you'll find the area to upload a logo or small image. It's recommended that you keep this image to around 100 pixels in height. Once you've set up your logo here, it will be displayed on the invitation emails, the RSVP forms, the Reminder emails, and the Thank You notes!
When you say "custom" invitations, what do you mean?
Most online invitation services say they are custom, but what they mean is you can change the colors and fonts of your invitations. The designs they provide are fixed. You cannot ever change the basic design. With SendAnInvite, you have complete and total control of your invitation or announcement. You have control all the way down to the HTML level if you want. If you'd like, you can completely change an invitation in terms of both the layout and coloring. You are completely in control.
Can I include pictures and music on my invitation/announcements?
You can easily upload your own images to be included on your invitation, but SendAnInvite does not support music or sound files.
I used a particular font when I created my invitation, but it's displaying differently for some of my recipients. Why?
There are about 8 or 9 actual "web-safe" fonts which are installed on 99% of all computers. These fonts are commonly known fonts such as Arial, Verdana, Georgia, Comic Sans, Courier, Impact, etc. Other fonts (such as Harrington) are not as widely installed, but perhaps on 80% of the computers on the net. Other fonts are even less widely supported. What happens when an HTML page is loaded and a particular font is not available, is that the browser tries to use a substitute....in most cases Verdana or Arial since these fonts can be found on most every computer in the world. If the browser cannot find verdana or arial, then it defaults to "times roman".....and if that's not found, the browser uses whatever font is available. This is also true in the SendAnInvite editor. Here is a LINK that has a bit more information about fonts and how browsers interpret various fonts.
I would like to have multiple invitations, but have all the RSVP's go into one location. Is this possible?
To have RSVP's from Invite B and Invite C go into the RSVP list for Invite A, simply highlight Invite B in your list of invitations on your Account Page, then click on the Settings button. When the window loads, click on the RSVP's link, and from there, click on the Cutoff tab. You'll see the Alternate RSVP Landing Page settings at the bottom of this page. Use the drop-down list to choose which invitation you want to point to... in this case, Invite A. After clicking on the Update button, anyone who clicks on the RSVP button/link from Invite B will be taken to the RSVP form for Invite A. You can repeat this process as many times as you need. The result is all your RSVP's will be listed in one place and maintaining your list will be a lot easier!
What is Guest Preference Polling and how would I use it?
If you have options for an event, you can ask your recipients what option they prefer. For example, you're having a "Movie Night" at your home and are inviting some friends. You can add some choices in the Guest Preferences and when your friends RSVP, they choose their preferences. This way you'll know exactly what movies to rent for the evening! Another example: Your company is having it's annual employee dinner. It's being catered, but you need some kind of count as to who wants chicken and who wants beef. Not only that, but how many of your guests would like coffee versus those who want tea? Set up those Guest Preferences and find out! In a situation like this, make sure to check the box that will allow guests to choose more than one item.
Can I ask my guest to bring an item to my event?
Yes, with the "What To Bring" list! To set up a "What To Bring" list if you forgot to do so during the creation of your invitation, highlight the invitation on your account page and click the SETTINGS button. When the new window opens, click on the What to Bring menu item on the left, then click on the "create" button. List each item separately and include the TOTAL number of this item you'll need. Do this until you have all your requested items entered.
How do I find places like restaurants in a different location than where I'm located?
Use the Local Search on SendAnInvite when you create your invitation! Just enter the name of the city or town your event will take place, and what kind of place you're looking for such as a restaurant, theater, or concert hall. Once you've chosen which one to go to, you can use that address for your Map on the invitation, so everyone knows where it is!
Instead of entering all my recipients' email addresses into the SendAnInvite Address Book by hand, is there a way to import them?
Importing a long list of recipients' addresses is much faster and easier than entering them by hand. You can find out how by clicking here. Just make sure you have the CSV file formatted correctly. If you need assistance with this process, email us and let us know!
Will my recipients be able to see all the email addresses I'm sending to?
No. Each email address is automatically sent it's own copy of your invitation/announcement. In short, it's just like sending to each email address individually.
I cut and pasted my email addresses before sending my invite and the send failed. What happened?
This happens when users cut and paste email addresses from other applications such as MS Word, Excel, etc. If you're going to be cutting and pasting, makes sure you do it from an application such as Notepad or a general text editor. Cutting and pasting from other sources often result in "strange and unusual" formatting characters getting added into your data.
Some of my emails don't seem to go through. What's up?
SendAnInvite does not have control of your invitation emails once they are sent out. Along with the explosion of SPAM, there has also been an increase in SPAM filtering on many service providers and email systems. If you send to a company email address, it may be that the company IT department is filtering email. Filtering occurs on the basis of keywords in the email as well as the domain that the email is sent from. Some criteria used for filtering are stricter on some systems and are less strict on other systems. If you can't find an email, check to see if it's being filtered out. Most often emails that have been filtered are placed in a Bulk Email or Junk Email folder.
A recipient is listed as a bounce, but the invitation was viewed... What's with that?
Some spam mail blockers are VERY aggressive and when they detect email they consider could be spam they return a bounce message telling email senders the account does not exist even though it does. This is to discourage spam email from being sent to the server. The theory being spam mail senders will remove accounts that do not exist. In practice what this means is that although you got this message that the person you were trying to email did not exist they probably do and will receive a spam mail summery with your email inside it. When they allow the message to be delivered it is recovered from cache and sent to their email in-box completely unharmed. Spam mail summaries from this type of filter are usually generated every evening for each user from the previous days email. So you can expect a reply the next day if you do not get a reply perhaps you really did get the email address wrong.
What does "SMTP Connection Failed" mean?
An unsuccessful SMTP transaction could be caused by the receiving server being too busy to accept an email message, the sending server timing out, and then temporarily giving up trying to send your email.
What is a "Soft Bounce"?
A soft bounce is usually caused by the recipient's mail server being temporarily unavailable. A second attempt should go through with no errors.
What is a "Hard Bounce"?
A hard bounce is a permanent bounce. Whether it's reason is an Unknown User, Unknown Host or any other permanent result listing. You should not try to resend to an email address listed as a Hard Bounce as it will usually not reach it's destination no matter how many times you resend.
When my guests RSVP, I would like to know how many people/members will accompany the guest. How do I add the option for guests to enter number of people accompanying them?
When a guest RSVP's, there is a field on the RSVP form that lets the guest enter the number of people attending. There are basically two options that you can use to "adjust" how this field works. Option 1 lets the guest enter the number of guests they are bringing without any upper limit. The second option allows you as the event host to specify a limit on the number of guests that someone can bring per RSVP. The RSVP options for an invitation can be managed via the invitation "Settings" page.
Can I track RSVPs for my invitations?
You bet! Your Account Page not only has areas concerning your account with SendAnInvite, you also get "At A Glance" Invitation details and the ability to track and manage RSVP responses and guest lists for each invitation you send out!
What kind of information do I get about the RSVP's?
SendAnInvite will automatically keep track of what date/time your guests have RSVP'd to your event. We'll also let you know if and when any of your recipients have viewed the invitation or announcement even if they haven't responded. Please note that some of this capability is diminished if you're using links on an event calendar or have purchased your link to send out on your own.
Can I set Space Availability Limits to my RSVP's?
Yes! You can easily deal with this through your Invitation Settings. Limit number of guests per RSVP: This setting will allow each recipient to bring only a designated number of guests with them to your event. Let's say you're sending invitations out for a conference and each person can only bring one other guest with them. By setting this limit to 2, the recipient can only RSVP for 1 or 2 people. Limit total guests for this event: If your event has space for 40 attendees, just click the checkbox and put the number 40 in the text area. Once this is set, the first 40 RSVP's are accepted. The 41st person that tried to RSVP will be given a message stating that no more RSVP's are being accepted for this event.
Are Reminders free?
Each created invitation or announcement gets one round of Reminders for free. This means you can send reminders to everyone on your recipient list once without using email credits.
How do Reminders work?
About a week before your event (2 weeks for large, formal events) you should send your Reminders. You have three options regarding to whom the Reminders should go: all Recipients, only those Recipients who RSVP'd with a Yes or Maybe response, or only those Recipients who have not responded.
Do Thank You notes use email credits?
No. Sending Thank You notes to your guests is a courtesy and free of any charge on SendAnInvite.
Is it possible to attach/insert a .doc file in a Thank you email message?
We do not allow attachments to be added to email.
