What's Been Going On

We've certainly been busy here at SendAnInvite over the last couple of weeks!  That's why you didn't get a newsletter last week.  But, after moving to a new server only to be disappointed, then moving to another server, then adding in some upgrades and new features, we're back on track and all is right in the world!

So what exactly have we done?

Clean Address Book from Bounce List Button
Any of you who send out a lot of invitations knows how much of a pain it was when you received email bounces.  You had to jot down the email address, then go into your Address Book and find it if you needed to keep your lists clean.  NOT ANYMORE!   We've added a "Clean Address Book" button right on the bottom of the Bounce List!  When you click this button, all the bounced email addresses will automatically get deleted from your Address Book!  I know this will be a time-saver for some of you!

Inserting RSVP links into the body of the invitation
Besides the usual RSVP buttons/links we offer, now you can add an RSVP link directly into the body of your invitation!  We've found that some people just don't see those buttons at the top and/or bottom of the invitation, so we added a feature that lets you add an RSVP link anywhere in the actual invitation.  When you highlight the invitation and click on the EDIT button, you are taken to the editing window for that invitation.  Place your cursor where you want the RSVP link to appear and click on the "Insert Link" button... it looks like a chain link.  Once the small window opens, click on the RSVP tab.  From there you can enter some "Friendly text" and upon clicking the Insert Link button, your link will appear on the invitation.  Use it as often as you want!

SendAnInvite Now On New Servers
After jumping through a bunch of hoops and jumping a lot of hurdles, SendAnInvite is now on new high-speed Xeon servers.  What does this mean?  Well, hopefully this means that the site runs somewhat faster and more reliable for all of you!  (depending on network traffic, of course!)  The majority of images should load much faster, and we're confident we won't have any more "down time"...except in those "Acts of God" situations.

Where Are Those New Pages?
If you recall from two weeks ago, I mentioned we were going to be introducing a new look with some upgraded pages on the site.  (Mostly the outer pages at this time)  So where are they?  They're still coming!  Obviously with the previous server issues, everything else got pushed back on the schedule.  Keep watching though, they're still in the queue for release soon!

Of course there were other things that we've done "behind the scenes" that you probably wouldn't even notice.  But all those adjustments were made to try to make SendAnInvite a better service for you!   You're always welcome to send us a note... whether it's to report a possible "bug" or to just say "Hi", we love hearing from our users!  As always... testimonials are ALWAYS welcome!  ;)

SPAM - Not On Our Site!

We know that nobody likes SPAM.  We don't either.  That's why we're always monitoring to ensure our service is not being used in inappropriate ways.  If a user is found to be SPAMMING, the account is immediately suspended and any future emailing is disallowed.   I thought this would be a good time to throw out some information that any of you bulk emailers may find useful.

All invitation emails are compliant with the CAN-SPAM act.  This means that there will always be an "Unsubscribe" link, a "Contact" link and contact information in the footer of the emails.  The email address to our Abuse Department is also listed in the footer in case any recipient views the email as SPAM.

We also keep a close eye on Bounces.  Too many Bounces could result from using an old mailing list and is usually from someone trying to advertise in a SPAMMY manner.  This means you must be vigilant in keeping your email lists current!   This is another reason why we added the "Clean Address Book" button mentioned in the section above.

So why do we care?  Simple.  Since SendAnInvite does your emailing for you, it's our site that would get blacklisted from domains (such as AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, etc) if SPAM is detected.  That means our level of service would severely diminish and the site just wouldn't be very useful if many domains refuse email from us!   Now we certainly don't want that to happen!

Here are a couple of articles we highly recommend you to read if you do any kind of bulk mailing:

Keep in mind that we're somewhat familiar with our bulk-emailing users and we do understand that sometimes, email addresses change.  If we have any doubts regarding the intentions of the user, we will launch an investigation before completely shutting down their account.

This being said, please remember we have ZERO tolerance for SPAMMERS.   So keep those lists clean!
