Bounce Awareness

There are times when email bounces. That's no big secret. But what sometimes gets confusing is exactly why a email gets bounced.

SendAnInvite lets you know when one or more of your emails have bounced by marking it in your Recipient list. You can either hold your mouse pointer over the bounced email address to see why it bounced, or visit your Bounced Emails section (located in the red bar on your Account Page) to view all your bounces.

Once an email address has been moved to your Bounced list, that email address will not be included in any future mailings. You have the option to remove an email address from your bounce list to make it available for emailing again. However, you should make sure you check the reason for the bounce before you re-enable any email addresses for mailing.

The reasons can range from "Mailbox is full" to just plain "Failed". Cases like "Mailbox is full" are considered "Soft Bounces", meaning the bounce is a temporary failure and the next mailing possibly will make it's destination. A message can also bounce if the mail server on the recipient's end is busy and cannot handle the request at that time. Cases where a bounce is listed as "User Unknown", "Unknown Host", etc. are considered "Hard Bounces", meaning that no matter how many times you try, mail to this particular address is just not going anywhere.

There are times when you might see an email address listed as a bounce, but you've received a response from them anyway. Why is that? We've seen instances where a recipient received the invitation, but when the RSVP confirmation or a Reminder is sent out, the email address bounces. We've also seen instances where the original invitation to "Fred" bounced, but then "Steve" listed "Fred" as a guest. This would make the system think that "Fred" responded.

As you can see, there are many ways an email can bounce. We make every effort to keep current on these bounces so you can tell exactly who did and didn't get your invitation. The Bounce World can be a confusing place, so never hesitate to drop us an email should you have any questions or concerns. We're here to help!

Spell Checking... A MUST!

Nothing says "Amateur" as loudly as an email with tons of spelling errors! It's hard to take the message seriously when you almost need a decoder ring to figure out what it's message really is!

It's highly recommended to run the Spell Checker when you've finished creating your invitations. Even if you're an excellent speller, sometimes you're fingers may have a problem keeping up with your mind and instead of typing "view", you may have typed "vew". OOPS!

After you're finished creating your invitation, click the SAVE button and then run the spell checker. The spell checker is the button located at the top of the design editor that has the check mark and ABC. When the spell checker is finished, click the SAVE button again to save the spelling changes.

NOTE: There are times when the spell checker may goof up your invitation format a bit. This can happen if the spell checker substitutes a piece of the code that builds your invitation. After you've saved the spelling corrections, you can re-format your invitation and SAVE again.

Make sure your recipients can understand what your invitations are saying. Spell Checking is definitely a MUST!
